Glossary
Fallback Price
One price level (usually level 0) is designated as the fallback price level. The fallback price
level is used if prices for other price levels have not been entered, or if another price level has
not been selected for the sale yet. The fallback price is the price loaded for the fallback price
level.
Field
One piece of information from a record. For example, the transaction number and the account
number are fields in the transaction record. Also refer to
“Record” .
File
Related information treated as a unit and stored on a disk for the SC III. Data for pumps,
tanks, totals, and so on is stored in special files. On the SC III, it is called
“Table” . Also refer
to “User File” , “Command File” , and “Disk File” .
Fill
A sale is approved for a fill if an amount is not specified before authorization is requested.
The amount of a fill depends on the various limits in effect for that sale.
Floppy Diskette
A circular plastic storage medium that is soft, flexible, and permanently enclosed in a square,
rigid, plastic protective sleeve. Information is stored and retrieved on the smooth magnetic
surface of the disk by a head similar to those used in tape recorders. SC III uses 3.5-inch
floppy disks.
Fuel Point Reader
Optional program and hardware for automated fleet fueling. Prevents unauthorized
dispensing when automatically recording vehicle information.
Graphical User Interface
A program interface that takes advantage of the computer's graphics capabilities to make the
program easier to use.
GUI
Refer to “Graphical User Interface” . Pronounced “goo-ee”.
Hard Disk
A disk that is similar to a floppy disk, but rigid and built into its computer. All SC IIIs have
hard disks.
Hardware
The physical equipment that makes up a computer system.
