CFN III
The POS system consisting of Site Controller, Islander, Profit Point, Distribution Boxes, and
peripherals. Also refer to
“Site Controller” and “System” .
Character
Any letter, digit, punctuation mark, or symbol (usually represented by a unique binary code
consisting of 8 bits). Also refer to
“Control Character” .
Club Card
Same as “Proprietary Card” .
Command
A direct instruction to the CFN Site Controller or console that is carried out immediately.
Command File
A command file contains a list of Site Controller commands and data for the commands.
Command files for the SC III have the extension CMD. When you type the name of the
command file (without the extension), all the commands in it are executed.
Command Mode
When the data terminal is in command mode, it will accept user commands.
Configuration
The configuration for a CFN site refers to the hardware and software options that were
selected for that site.
Control Character
Character obtained by holding down the key marked CONTROL or ^ when pressing another
key on the keyboard.
CPU
Refer to
“Central Processing Unit (CPU)” .
Crash
When the Site Controller cannot complete or restart a program as the result of a hardware or
software malfunction.
Cron
A user-defined command file or command that is to be executed at a specific time or event.
Cron is short for chronological.
CRT
Refer to “Cathode Ray Tube” .
