Note the following points:
• The LUN numbers are assigned as the LUNs are discovered by the system. These LUN numbers are
unique across the HP SFS system.
• The
Preferred Controller
field can contain a dash (–),

. The dash indicates that no
preferred controller has been specified for the LUN.
• Information about the paths between the servers and the LUN is shown as follows:

Preferred
— this field shows the preferred path. If no preferred path and no preferred
controller are specified, the value is show as
none
. Other values can indicate that a preferred
controller or a path has been set. For example:

This value indicates that although no preferred path is set, controller
A
has
been specified as the preferred controller. In this case, the software will
pick a path that optimizes access to controller
A
.

The path is set to

Current
— this field shows the current path being used for the LUN. This data is accurate at
boot time and each time the
hpls_scan_luns
command runs. However, the value in this field
is not updated if there are failures in the Fibre Channel fabric.

Available
— this field shows all of the possible paths to the LUN. Where there are two HBAs
and two redundant switch fabrics, four paths should be shown. In this example, only two paths
are shown, and this indicates that there is a problem; the
syscheck
utility will report the
problem.
The following example shows the output from the
show lun lun_number
command in a system where
SFS20 storage is used:
