Troubleshooting the Voltaire InfiniBand interconnect
9–19
Subsystem: Mellanox Technology MT23108 InfiniHost
Flags: bus master, 66Mhz, medium devsel, latency 64, IRQ 32
Memory at f7e00000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=1M]
Memory at f5000000 (64-bit, prefetchable) [size=8M]
Memory at e8000000 (64-bit, prefetchable) [size=128M]
Capabilities: [40] #11 [001f]
Capabilities: [60] Message Signalled Interrupts: 64bit+ Queue=0/5 Enable-
Capabilities: [70] PCI-X non-bridge device.
If the output is not as shown here, check the adapter as follows:
1.
Ensure that the HCA adapter is firmly plugged into the PCI slot.
2.
Determine whether there is any incompatibility with other boards on the same PCI bus.
3.
Test the HCA adapter alone on a PCI bus.
4.
If the problem persists, it may be caused by a hardware failure. Connect a different HCA adapter to
the server; if this fixes the problem the first adapter must have a hardware failure.
If changing the adapter does not fix the problem, consider the possibility that there is a hardware
failure on the PCI slot. If possible, test the HCA adapter in another PCI slot.
9.25.3 Voltaire HCA adapter is not activated
To verify that the port on a Voltaire Host Channel Adapter (HCA) is active, enter the following command on
the server:
# vstat
If the adapter is active, the output will be similar to the following:
1 HCA found:
hca_id=InfiniHost0
vendor_id=0x02C9
vendor_part_id=0x5A44
hw_ver=0xA1
fw_ver=0x300000000
num_phys_ports=2
port=1
port_state=PORT_ACTIVE
sm_lid=0x0001
port_lid=0x0004
port_lmc=0x00
max_mtu=2048
port=2
port_state=PORT_DOWN
sm_lid=0x0000
port_lid=0x0000
port_lmc=0x00
max_mtu=2048
If the output does not show that the HCA adapter is active, use the
ibhost.init
command to activate the
port, as follows:
# service voltaireibhost start
