1.1.3.2.2 SFS20 storage arrays
An SFS20 storage array is a RAID array that can be attached to two servers. A system configured with
SFS20 arrays is configured to have high availability, and Object Storage Servers are organized in pairs.
While each array is attached to two servers, an array is normally accessed by one of the servers only.
However, if the server that normally accesses an array fails, the second server in the server pair has the
ability to access the array normally accessed by the first server. In effect, the SFS20 arrays are also grouped
in pairs.
In systems where SFS20 storage arrays are used, each server pair (including the administration and MDS
server pair) must be connected to a minimum of two arrays. The administration and MDS server pair can
be connected to a maximum of four SFS20 arrays, while each Object Storage Server pair can be connected
to a maximum of eight arrays, only four of which are accessed by each Object Storage Server in normal
operation.
Figure 1-4 shows an overview of an HP SFS system that uses SFS20 arrays. All servers in the HP SFS system
are also connected to the management network; this connection is not shown in Figure 1-4.
