Server with Quadrics interconnect may fail to boot

9–5

When the configure system command attempted to add this route, the command failed and returned the

RTNETLINK answers: File exists

message. This failure occurred because a route to this network

already existed, as is shown in the output from the following command (run on the administration server):

# netstat -nr
Kernel IP routing table
Destination Gateway Genmask Flags MSS Window irtt Iface
10.128.0.0 0.0.0.0 255.255.0.0 U 0 0 0 eth1
169.254.0.0 0.0.0.0 255.255.0.0 U 0 0 0 eth1
192.168.0.0 0.0.0.0 255.255.0.0 U 0 0 0 eth0

If this happens, you must reconfigure the static routes; see Section 7.1 for information on how to reconfigure

the static routes.

When you are specifying a static route, please ensure that the following conditions are met:

A route to the network does not already exist.

The netmask you choose is appropriate for the network.

The gateway node is up and is on the same network as the device being configured with the static

route.

Server with Quadrics interconnect may fail to boot

Occasionally, a server in an HP SFS system where a Quadrics interconnect is present may fail to boot due

to a problem with the interconnect card. You can determine whether this problem has occurred by

observing, from the virtual serial port of the iLO, the output from the server while the server is booting. If no

further output is returned after the following, the problem has occurred:

Starting qsnet [

To resolve the boot problem, reset the node as follows. In this example,

south3

is the server that failed to

boot:

1.

Enter the command shown in the following example:

# hpls_pwr --server "south3" reset

2.

Wait for 15 seconds, then enter the following command:

# hpls_pwr --server "south3" off

3.

Detach the interconnect cable from the server, and then attach it again.

4.

Boot the server from the SFS CLI, as follows:

sfs> boot server south3

The server will now boot normally.

The scan mac command fails

If the

scan mac

command fails to find the MAC address of a server, you must identify the address and

enter it into the database manually, as follows:

1.

Verify that the iLO component on the server is configured as specified in Chapter 6 and Chapter 7 of

the HP StorageWorks Scalable File Share System Installation and Upgrade Guide, and that the iLO

firmware is at the correct version (as specified in the HP StorageWorks Scalable File Share Release

Notes).

If you make any changes, enter the

scan mac server_name

command again.

2.

If the command fails again, power cycle the server by entering the following command:

# hpls_pwr --server server_name reset
