2.

Run the

gm_board_info

program, by entering the following command:

# /opt/gm/bin/gm_board_info

3.

If the

gm_board_info

program returns a message similar to the following, this indicates that the

Myrinet adapter was not found:

*** No boards found or all ports busy ***

Look to see if the board is physically present.

If the board is physically present, enter the following commands and then examine the log output to

see whether there were any software issues when the server booted:

# sfsmgr
.

.

.

sfs> show log

4.

Look at the status of the LEDs. In normal operation, there is a green LED and a flashing yellow/amber

LED illuminated on the Myrinet adapter, and a green LED illuminated on each of the corresponding

switch ports. If this is not the case, examine the switch line card to see if it is powered on and look at

the cable to see if it is seated correctly. To test the cable, swap it with a cable that is known to be

working properly.

5.

Examine the output from the

gm_board_info

program to determine whether other hosts can be

seen on the network. When the network is operating correctly, each server in the HP SFS system has

a route to every other server in the system, and a route to each client node.

The following example shows typical output from the

gm_board_info

program:

# /opt/gm/bin/gm_board_info
