9.21 Press "F1" key to continue prompt
When you boot a ProLiant DL server, you may sometimes see the following message:
Press "F1" key to continue
This message indicates that an error has been detected during the power on/start-up phase, but that the
error will not prevent the server from booting. The default behavior on the ProLiant DL servers is to wait
indefinitely for the F1 key to be pressed. This behavior is controlled by the
POST F1 Prompt
parameter
on the ROM-Based Setup Utility on the server. The default value of the parameter is
Enabled
. By changing
the value of this parameter to
Delayed
, the behavior is changed so that the server waits for 20 seconds
after displaying the prompt, and then continues to boot.
HP recommends that you change the parameter value to
Delayed
on all ProLiant DL servers in the HP SFS
system. On ProLiant DL G3 servers, the
POST F1 Prompt
parameter is in the
Advanced Options
menu;
on ProLiant DL G4 servers, it is in the
Server Availability
menu. Instructions for setting this parameter
are contained in the ROM-Based Setup Utility section in Chapter 6 and Chapter 7 of the HP StorageWorks
Scalable File Share System Installation and Upgrade Guide.
9.22 Gigabit Ethernet -113 error code
If an error message similar to the following is displayed on a system (either a server or a client node), it is
likely that the reporting system has a problem connecting to another system over a Gigabit Ethernet network.
The system that cannot be connected to is mentioned in the error message, as shown in the following
example:
2004/11/30 23:04:43 kern ! south2 : LustreError: 9313:0:
(socknal_cb.c:2317:ksocknal_connect_peer())
Error -113 connecting to 0xa00000c 0:10.0.0.12
The
-113
error code means the host at address 10.0.0.12 is unreachable. Examine the network
connections and the relevant network switch to ensure that they are properly connected to the system that
cannot be reached.
