1.1.3.3
Network connections
The servers in the HP SFS system are connected to networks inside and outside the system as follows:
•
The administration server and the MDS server each have a connection to the site network. The site
network connection provides management access to the HP SFS system.
•
All servers within the HP SFS system are connected to the system interconnect (there can be a number
of interconnects). An interconnect is a network that client nodes use to interact with the servers within
the HP SFS system.
•
All servers within the HP SFS system are connected to the HP SFS management network.
The connections to the site network and the interconnect are described in Section 1.1.3.3.1.
The connections to the management network are described in Section 1.1.3.3.2.
1.1.3.3.1 Site network and interconnect
Figure 1-5 shows how an HP SFS system interfaces with other systems and site components.
Figure 1-5
HP SFS interfaces
As mentioned previously, all servers within the HP SFS system are connected to one or more system
interconnects, and the administration server and the MDS server each have a connection to the site network.
Also, all of the servers in the HP SFS system are connected to the management network (see
Section 1.1.3.3.2); this connection is not shown in Figure 1-5.
