9.25.1.2.2 From the command line
Use the following commands to start and stop the Voltaire InfiniBand interconnect software:
• To start the interconnect software, enter the following command:
# service voltaireibhost start
• To stop the interconnect software, enter the following command:
# service voltaireibhost stop
• To configure a server so that the interconnect software starts automatically when the server is booted,
enter the following command:
# chkconfig --level 2345 voltaireibhost on
Note that this command does not start the interconnect software.
• To configure a server so that the interconnect software does not start automatically when the server is
booted, enter the following command:
# chkconfig --level 2345 voltaireibhost off
Note that this command does not stop the interconnect software.
9.25.1.3 Server hangs when Voltaire InfiniBand interconnect is started
If a server hangs when the Voltaire InfiniBand interconnect software is started (either at boot time or
interactively), it is almost certain that there is a problem with the interconnect cable or plug, or on the HCA
adapter, or in the PCI slot on the server. Check the hardware as follows:
1. Unplug the cable and then plug it in again. Make sure that is it firmly plugged in.
2. Remove the cable and plug in a different one.
3. Take out the HCA adapter and insert a new one.
4. If changing the adapter does not fix the problem, consider the possibility that there may be a failure
in the PCI slot. If possible, test the HCA adapter in another PCI slot.
9.25.2 Voltaire HCA adapter is not recognized
To verify that the Voltaire Host Channel Adapter (HCA) on a server is recognized, enter the following
command on the server:
# lspci -v
If the adapter is recognized on the server, the output will include the following lines:
