Troubleshooting
9–52
NOTE:
If you get a message similar to the following, see Section 9.31.2 for information on how
to troubleshoot the problem:
Requested service is unavailable, it is already in use by a different
client.Connection closed by foreign host.
2.
If the server whose console you want to access is currently running, shut down the server by entering
the commands shown in the following example, where the
south3
server is shut down. Enter the
commands on the administration server:
# sfsmgr
.
.
.
sfs> shutdown server south3
3.
Reboot the server by entering the command shown in the following example (enter the command on
the administration server):
sfs> boot server south3
As the server boots, you are presented with a number of options. When prompted, press the
F8
key
to access the Integrated Lights-Out Setup Utility.
9.31.1.2 Using a Web browser
CAUTION:
If you use a Web Browser to configure the iLO component, the iLO password is transmitted on
the network in plain text. If you do not want the iLO password to be transmitted on the network in plain
text, you must access the server using the monitor and keyboard connected to the administration server
through the KVM switch, and configure the iLO component as described in Section 9.31.1.1.
To configure the iLO component using a Web browser, perform the following steps:
1.
Log in to the administration server and launch the Web browser as shown in the following example,
where the Mozilla Web browser is used:
# DISPLAY=16.123.123.10:0.0
# mozilla
2.
Enter the following URL, where
server_name
is the name of the server you want to access:
http://server_name-mp
3.
When prompted, enter the iLO user name and password.
9.31.2 Troubleshooting iLO access
When you use the
telnet
(1) command to access the iLO component on a server, you may sometimes see
a message similar to the following:
Requested service is unavailable, it is already in use by a different
client.Connection closed by foreign host.
Although this message usually means that another user is already using the console, it sometimes indicates
that the console is locked up.
To help to prevent this problem from occurring, note the following points regarding console access:
•
Only access a console when it is really necessary. While you are using a console, other users are
denied access to it, including the power management daemon (
powerd
), which tries to trigger a
crash dump if a server becomes unresponsive.
•
When using the
telnet
(1) command to access a console, always run the command from the
administration server. This allows the
ps
command to identify whether other users are accessing the
console.
