Checking for unbalanced controllers in EVA4000 arrays
File system performance may be affected if all of the storage on an EVA4000 array is served through a
single controller. This situation may arise in the following circumstances:
•
One of the pair of controllers on the EVA4000 array has failed.
•
All storage on the EVA4000 array is presented through a single controller in error.
To determine whether this is the case, enter the following commands:
•
Where LUNs from only one EVA4000 array are presented to the administration and MDS server pair,
enter the following command on either the administration server or the MDS server:
# /usr/opt/hpls/diags/bin/controller_check.bash --eva=1

•
Where LUNs from two EVA4000 arrays are presented to the server pair (either the administration and
MDS server pair or an Object Storage Server pair), enter the following command:

Controller Check FAILED: Luns of same size presented through same controller
The output in each of these examples shows that there is a problem in the presentation of the LUNs to the
server. In both cases, the two large data LUNs are presented through the same controller.
