Changing the iLO user name and password
You must not simply change the iLO password. Instead, you must add a new user (with a new password) to
the iLO component. If you simply change the password of the existing iLO user, the system will be unable to
ascertain the power status of the servers, and will be unable to turn the power to the servers on and off.
CAUTION:
If you simply change the password of the existing iLO user, the system may shut down, and you
may not be able to turn on the power to the servers using the
boot
command.
To add a new iLO user (with a new password), perform the following steps:
1.
Add the new iLO user to each of the servers, using one of the following methods:
•
Perform the following steps:
a.
Connect to the console of the server, as shown in the following example, where
south3
is
the server where you want to add the new iLO user:
#
hpls_console --server south3 --remote
b.
Power cycle the server on which you want to add the new user.
c.
When prompted during the power on/start-up phase as the server reboots, press the F8
key to enter the Integrated Lights-Out Setup Utility, where you can add the new user.
•
Use a Web browser to access the iLO management interface, and add the new user by selecting
the appropriate menu items.
See Section 9.31.1 for more information on connecting to the console and on accessing the iLO
management interface using a Web browser.
2.
When you have added the new iLO user to each server, run the
configure system
command, as
described in Section 7.2, and change the iLO user name and password on the
iLO Access
menu.
3.
Log in to the MDS server, then shut down the administration server by entering the command shown in
the following example (where
south1
is the administration server):
sfs> shutdown server south1
