Running sfsmgr commands

When you first enter the
sfsmgr
command when installing or upgrading a system, the output displayed is
one of the following:
•
If the system software has never been installed, either at the factory or on site, the following menu is
displayed. Enter
1
to select the option to install the system:
# sfsmgr

1) Install new system (create new adm LUN)
c) Cancel

If the system software has previously been installed, either at the factory or on site, the following menu
is displayed. Enter

to select the option to install the system, or
2
to select the option to upgrade a
system:
# sfsmgr

1) Install new system (create new adm LUN)
2) Upgrade or repair system (use existing adm LUN)
c) Cancel

If you are upgrading an existing system, a list of the existing administration (
adm
) LUNs is then
displayed, allowing you to specify which one is to be used for the upgraded system. Select the LUN
you want to use, as shown in the following example:
This menu allows you to specify an existing adm LUN. This LUN contains
the system configuration data.
If more than one LUN is displayed then the most likely one to choose is
the LUN that was updated most recently.

2.3 Running sfsmgr commands
During normal system operation, when you enter the
sfsmgr
command without any arguments, the
sfs>
prompt is displayed. At this prompt, you can enter the SFS CLI commands. A full list of the commands that
can be used with the
sfsmgr
utility is provided in Appendix A.
NOTE:
If the installation menu described in Section 2.2 is displayed at any time other than when you are
installing or upgrading a system, it indicates a problem. Enter
c
to cancel and use the information
provided in Chapter 9 to troubleshoot the problem.
In
sfsmgr
commands where it is appropriate, you can use either the singular or the plural form of the
component to which the command applies. For example, you can enter the
configure server
command
in either of the following formats:
sfs> configure server server_name
sfs> configure servers server_names
In addition, most of the CLI commands can be abbreviated. For example, the
configure server
command can be abbreviated as follows:
sfs> conf serv server_name
