Replacing hardware components

7.
Start the file system(s).
8.
When file systems restart, client nodes can remount the file systems.
If a client node fails to mount a file system, reboot the client node.
8.1.18 Replacing a Quadrics cable
Configuration impact
None.
Process
Shut down the server before replacing the cable.
8.1.19 Replacing a Myrinet network adapter
Configuration impact
Changes the
Network ID
of the server on the Myrinet interconnect.
As a result of this change, client nodes will not be able to access the file system(s) that uses the server until
the file system is reconfigured and the client nodes remount the file system.
Process
1.
Unmount the file system(s) on all client nodes.
2.
Stop the affected file system(s) by entering the
stop filesystem filesystem_name
command,
as shown in the following example, where
data
is the name of the file system:
sfs> stop filesystem data
Repeat this command for each file system that needs to be stopped.
3.
Verify that all MDS and OST services used by the file system(s) are stopped by entering the following
command:
sfs> show filesystem
Name State Services
------------- -------------- ----------------------------------
data stopped mds3: stopped, ost[10-13]: stopped
4.
Shut down the server, as shown in the following example, where
south4
is the affected server:
sfs> shutdown server south4
5.
Make the required hardware change (that is, replace the Myrinet network adapter on the server).
6.
Reboot the server, as shown in the following example:
sfs> boot server south4
7.
Start the file system(s).
8.
When file systems restart, client nodes can remount the file systems.
If a client node fails to mount a file system, reboot the client node.
