Upgrading firmware
8–19
NOTE:
The firmware files are currently placed in the
/usr/mst/fw-23108-rel-3.0.0/
directory.
However, if this directory does not exist, or if the names of the firmware files in that directory do not
correspond to the firmware versions recommended in the HP StorageWorks Scalable File Share Release
Notes, please contact your HP Customer Support representative for details of which firmware files you must
use.
Before you upgrade the firmware on an HCA adapter in a server, you must first determine whether the
adapter is a Voltaire adapter, as follows:
•
Inspect the adapter and look for labels and part numbers. Voltaire adapters have a label showing the
Voltaire logo and part number.
•
Use the Fabric Manager GUI to view the graphical representation of the card. Voltaire adapters are
identified by the Voltaire logo.
•
Use the
vstat
command to query the adapter as follows:
[root@n510 root]# vstat -v | grep node_guid
node_guid=00:08:f1:04:03:96:1e:50 (Node GUID for this hca)
The
node_guid
value on Voltaire adapters always begins with 00:08:f1 (as is the case in this
example).
If the adapter is a Voltaire adapter, proceed to Section 8.2.3.1 to upgrade the firmware.
If the adapter is not a Voltaire adapter, contact your HP Customer Support representative to find out if your
adapter type is supported.
