Changing system parameters
After the HP SFS system has been installed and configured, it is possible to change some of the configured
parameters; however, there are some parameters that can only be changed by reinstalling the system. This
section identifies the parameters that can be changed, and provides instructions for changing them.
In general, the process for changing a parameter is as follows:
1.
Enter the
configure system
command to display the existing parameters and to change them
2.
Enter the
configure server
command to reconfigure the affected servers (see Section 7.3).
NOTE:
Until you run the
configure server
command to reconfigure the affected servers, the
servers will continue to use the old parameters.
Some parameter changes require alternative steps or additional steps (such as stopping and restarting the
file systems); these steps are described later in this section.
Table 7-1 lists all of the parameters and indicates whether the parameter can be changed without
reinstalling the system. In some cases, the full procedure for changing the parameter is described in the
table, while in other cases, more details are provided in other sections.
Within the table, the parameters are grouped to reflect the menus that are displayed as you work through
the
configure system
command—that is, the

Instructions for changing the root user password are also included at the end of the table.
