Models with GPRS capability are capable of sending SMS alert messages. The SMS related param-
eters on the Configure > Event Handler and Configure > W-WAN pages are used to configure
the unit to send such alarms, but the Configure > SMS Edit page allows you to edit and send an
SMS message manually.
Using the Web Page(s)
The Configure > SMS Edit page contains two text boxes and two buttons which operate as fol-
lows:
To:
The To text box is used to enter the destination number for the SMS message.
Text:
Enter the message text that you want to send in the text box.
Send:
Click on the Send button to transmit the message.
Cancel:
Click on the Cancel button to clear the message
Using Text Commands
The sendsms command can be used to send an SMS message from the command line. The format of
the command is as follows:
sendsms
where:
including the international country code. (NB a + symbol should not be included.)
should be replaced with the message to send which should be bounded by double
quotation marks.
An example of sending a message to a UK phone number follows. The country code for the UK is
44, the NDC (National Destination Code) for the example message is 07974 and the number to
dial for the example message is 123456.
sendsms 447974123456 “Test Message”
The possible responses to this command are as follows:
SMS send success
SMS send failure
SMS busy
