RIP update timeout:
This is the length of time in seconds an updated metric will apply for when a RIP update is
received. If no updates are received within this time the usual metric will take over.
RIP update linger timeout:
When a RIP update timeout occurs and the route metric is 16, the unit will continue to adver-
tise this route in RIP updates for this period of time (in seconds). This is in order to help propa-
gate the dead route to other routers. The unit will no longer use a metric advertised by a RIP
update if the route has been set out of service locally.
