~ Synchro

Function

1. Common Items (Applicable to Both the Absolute Specification and Incremental

Specification)

A pair of synchro axes consists of the master axis and the slave axis, with the axis of the smaller axis
number designated as the master axis.
The axis-number combination for master axis and slave axis is set in axis-specific parameter No. 65. A
mating synchro-axis number is set for the master axis and the slave axis, respectively. (“0” is set for an
axis that is not a synchro axis.)
Example) 2-axis

controller

(Other parameter settings are partially different between the absolute specification and the
incremental specification.)

Move commands in the program are valid only for the master axis. Position data of the slave axis is
ignored.
Also, home return (only when an absolute reset is performed) is performed only for the master axis.
Example)

HOME 1

(With the absolute specification, do not perform home return except when an absolute reset is
performed.)

As a rule, when using the synchro function the master-axis and slave-axis sliders must be connected
using a bracket, etc.
Consider the relative positions of the master axis and slave axis to make sure the slave slider will not hit
the mechanical end during home return or full-stroke movement.

2. Incremental

Specification

With the incremental specification, the relative positions of the master-axis and slave-axis sliders are fixed
when the power is turned on. (If the sliders had moved while the power was off, synchro operation will be
performed from the final positions.)
With the incremental specification, absolute reset is not performed. Accordingly, home return must be
performed after the power has been turned on or following a software reset.

3. Absolute Specification (When Both the Master Axis and Slave Axis are of Absolute

Specification)

Perform an absolute reset after the relative positions of the master axis and slave axis have been
determined.
Even if the sliders had moved while the power was off, the positions will be automatically corrected with a
servo ON (SVON) command.
(The slave slider will move to the displayed coordinate position of the master slider at very low speed.)

If you are using a controller of absolute specification, refer to “

~ Absolute Reset for Synchro

Specification.”
