11.9.1. DIMM Removal Steps

Use the following steps to remove a DIMM.

1. Power down the partition and remove AC power from the system. Refer to

Section 6

Applying and Removing Power and Booting Partitions

Note: If the memory boards are mirrored, the board powers down automatically.

2. Remove the fan module.

3. Remove the memory board.

4. Remove the DIMM.

Removing the Fan Module

1. Pull the fan module handle forward, and then rotate it down.

2. Slide the fan module out of the cell.

Caution

You must replace the fan module within 2 minutes, or the cell powers off. If
the power to the cell is already off, this does not apply.
