8.2. Rules for Partitioning
The following rules apply to partitioning actions in the remote console interface for the
system:
•
Each cell is a member of exactly one partition at any time.
•
The system must contain at least one partition. You cannot delete all partitions.
•
Systems with only one cell have only one partition. Therefore, most partitioning
actions are relevant only for systems with two or more cells.
•
The primary and secondary boot cells must be members of the partition. For
partitions of two or more cells, a secondary boot cell is recommended but not
required.
•
Partitions cannot share cell components. That is, a cell in one partition cannot be
added to another partition without first being deleted from the first partition.
•
You cannot move a cell from a running partition to a different partition.
•
All cells in a partition must have the same management firmware revision level. If
you add a cell with a different level to the partition, the firmware on the added cell is
updated automatically to the level that is on the boot cell. You must wait for the
