9.1. Accessing the Desktop of a Partition Remotely using
remote console interface
Refer to
3.5.19 KVMS Redirection
for information about using a remote session from
your workstation to access the partition operating system or BIOS.
To start a remote session
1. Navigate to the KVMS Redirection page on the remote console interface for the
partition.
2. Under
Select the host operating system that is running on this partition
, click
one of the following:
• Windows (absolute mouse mode)
• Unix/Linux (relative mouse mode)
3. Click one of the following buttons:
Note: If you receive any security warnings, click
Yes or OK.
• Launch JViewer (Java Client)
Use this interface if your workstation is running a Linux operating system or if
you want to use the Java client with a workstation running a Windows
operating system. (This button is always enabled, but you must meet the
workstation requirements to launch the interface. Refer to Console Manager
Help
for the requirements.)
• Launch Partition Desktop (ActiveX Client)
Use this interface if your workstation is running a supported Windows
operating system and Internet Explorer. (This button is enabled only if your
workstation meets the operating system and browser requirements. Refer to
Console
Manager Help for the requirements.)
4. Follow the on-screen instructions to download the Console Manager client software,
if required.
You are required to download the client software the first time you use the Partition
Desktop or JViewer. Whenever a new version of the client software becomes
available, always download the latest version when prompted.
Note: If you have a system with a previous version of Console Manager included in
your environment and your workstation already includes the Console Manager
software, you should upgrade the version on your workstation. Console Manager
client software is downward compatible, and you can use the latest version of the
client software to launch the Partition Desktop and access partitions associated
with
any version of Console Manager. (You can use only the Partition Desktop to
