Ongoing/Continuous
Commissioning
This chapter interprets ongoing or continuous commissioning (OC/CC) as energy
assessment during building operation (Figure 16). Also term Monitoring based
commissioning (MBCx) is used for these kinds of activities. It assumes that an as-
sessment, as described in the previous chapters, has already been undertaken and,
therefore, the most important ECMs have already been taken. OC/CC or MBCx,
then, has the goal of making the energy savings due to the assessment sustainable
and persistant and following the principle of PDCA discussed earlier in the daily
operation and maintenance of building. It is introduced as a tool based on regular
inspections during operation to improve energy effi ciency and to cut costs, and
therefore considered to be the fourth level of energy assessment. (Further reading
