some of the time. Air compressors and dryers can take a few minutes to
come online from a cold start, but if they are in a standby mode they can
be functioning almost immediately. The air compressor’s receivers store
some compressed air and help with surges of demand. If there is a short
period during which the dryer is not operating, some humid air can enter
the system. This could be a problem if some of the equipment using com-
pressed air requires very dry air, but otherwise this should not be an issue.
Having a dryer in standby mode is a waste of energy. The impact of some
moist air entering into the system needs to be evaluated before the use of
standby air dryer can be eliminated.
