Figure 10. Targeted and realized energy consumption in an education building.
Whatever communication means are used, the publication of the action
plan should
Create better understanding of the importance of energy effi ciency
■
Show the benefi ts for the organization and the environment as a whole
■
Make a commitment to the action plan and the saving measures chosen
■
Share relevant technical information with all stakeholders
■
Focus attention on key issues and achievements
■
Demonstrate how individuals can support the plan
■
The assessment team must keep all levels of the organization updated on
the progress of the action plan and communicate the cost savings and envi-
ronmental impacts achieved. Even unsuccessful results should be published
to add commitment and create pressure to start assessment activities again.
Maintaining interest in long-term energy management requires continuous
and appropriate feedback. Awareness and motivation of the whole organization
must be kept up and right communication is key for this. Sustainable energy
savings rely on everyone’s willingness to change their behavior and adopt new,
more effi cient practices.
