A.5 Examples
Two examples are included to showcase the portfolio analysis approach using
the following steps:
Portfolio defi nition: what is the potential energy reduction and the cost? 1.
Archetypes: group buildings with similar traits 2.
Building selection: select archetypes with the greatest potential 3.
ECM selection: select ECMs to apply to the archetypes 4.
The portfolio analysis, together with detailed evaluation of energy perfor-
mance of individual buildings, design and implementation of optimized ECMs,
and monitoring of energy performance and requirements, is an essential ele-
ment of an effective management practice for improving the energy effi ciency
of the building portfolio (Figure A1).
