Optional features
It is possible for an Output Server to have a second service that can also control the playout of
events. This service, which is normally used to insert a live program into a running schedule,
operates the “live” channel.
These channels are operated by the services TXPlay and TXLive, and are identified as ‘main’ and
‘live’. At any time, either channel may be connected to the Output Server to provide the SDI
output for transmission; the other channel is ‘by-passed’.
When both channels are running schedules, only one of them can be on air – playing out events
and providing the channel output to a transmission system. The other channel processes its
schedule without playing out events; we describe this channel as “rolling under” the on-air
channel.
To select which channel provides the channel output, you use the Live Channel Management
panel:
The panel appears on the Live Channel Bypass layout, along with features for modifying and
controlling schedules in the two channels:

Click MAIN or LIVE to select the channel that is to provide the channel output.
The button displays a red light, showing the channel is on air.
