Preparing media items for playout
Once you have ingested media files into your system, there are a number of tasks you may
need to perform to get the files ready for playout and to manage the storage of the files. In this
section, we describe how to use the Asset layout for these tasks.
About the Asset layout
You use the Asset layout to manage system assets; i.e. the media items in the System Database
and the media files on the Media Store that these items relate to. The media items contain the
information (such as the in- and out-points of a video clip) that iTX uses in scheduling
operations. The media files hold the media for the video clips, CGs, logos, and so on, that iTX
plays out in schedule events.
Note on terminology:
In general, where we use the word “asset” in this manual, we mean a media item in the System
Database.
