Chapter 5 Drive Programming and Parameters

Format Flash Cards

Flash card files have a characteristic unlike normal DOS files. Once written, you
cannot modify them. You can add new files, but you cannot selectively remove
them.

When using a new flash card or removing all files from an existing card, you must
format the card first. This erases any data on the card and creates a DOS file
structure.

To format a card press [F2] on the TRANSFER screen.

The interface prompts you to confirm the operation. Press [F8] to proceed, or
[F9] to abort. Formatting the card overwrites all existing data on the flash card,
and can take up to several minutes. The screen status indicates when the
formatting is complete or if an error occurred.

Format additional cards from this screen by pressing [F2].

IMPORTANT This feature requires an access level above 'Monitor'. Press [F8] and

enter the appropriate PIN to access this function. Refer to
