Downloading the Terminal
Firmware
The Operator Terminal provides an interface with the PowerFlex7000 drive. To
communicate with the drive, the terminal requires valid firmware, or it cannot
connect to the Analog Control Board (ACB).
This section describes the two methods of downloading firmware into the
terminal.
Using Flash Memory Card
If using a flash memory card (2711-NM4 or 2711-NM8 or 2711-NM16), copy
the appropriate file to the flash card in the root directory. Ensure that there are no
other files on the card containing the .FMW extension.
Power off the terminal and insert the memory card. Apply power to the terminal.
The terminal on power-up detects new firmware and download it from the card.
You will see a series of codes on the screen (2 – 20 – 21 …), then the drive
application firmware will start. The process may take several minutes. When the
download finishes, remove the card from the terminal. (If you leave the card in
the terminal, it will reload the firmware each time someone powers up the
terminal).
