INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
KEEP ALL PARTS CLEAN FROM CONTAMINANTS. CONTAMI-
NANTS MAY CAUSE RAPID WEAR AND SHORTENED COMPONENT
LIFE.
4. Check the condition of the V-belt. If the V-belt is worn
or damaged, use a new V-belt for replacement.
5. Install V-belt (5) in position on the engine.
NOTE: A used V-belt should be installed in the original
direction of rotation.
6. Slide alternator (3) away from the engine. Refer to
Systems Operation, Testing and Adjusting, “Belt
Tension Chart” for information on the correct belt
tension. Tighten bolts (1), (2) and (4) to a torque of
25 N·m (18 lb ft).
7. If the engine is equipped with fan guards, install the
fan guards.
FAN - REMOVE AND INSTALL
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
Start By:
a. Remove the V-Belt. Refer to Disassembly and
Assembly, “V-Belts - Remove and Install”.
1. Remove bolts (1) and remove fan (2).
NOTE: Mark the orientation of the fan for installation.
2. Remove spacer (3) and pulley (4) from water pump
(5).
