FRONT BRACKET/REAR BRACKET ASSEMBLY
6. Install the rear bracket lo the armature/yoke by align-
ing the brush terminal grommet with the cutout of
the rear bracket.
7. Attach the pinion drive lever to the starter solenoid.
Set the pinion drive never to the overrunning clutch.
8. Hold the pinion drive lever. starter solenoid and yoke
together and install the front bracket. Tighten the
through bolts to secure the front bracket and rear
bracket.
INSPECTION
STARTER SOLENOID
Connect a 12 V battery between the starter terminal and
the switch body and check for continuity between the ter-
minals.
Continuity should exist when the battery is connected and
not exist when the battery is disconnected.
BRUSH
Brush length:
Measure the brush length.
If brush length is less than tile service limit, replace the
brush.
Continuity check-brusher:
Check for continuity between the brushes.
There should be continuity between both the positive
brushes.
There should be continuity between both the negative
brushed.
There should be no continuity between both the positive
and negative brushes.
If necessary, replace the broke assembly.
