VALVE CLEARANCE
Inspection/adjustment:
Valve clearance inspection and adjustment must be per
formed with the engine cold.
1. Remove the cylinder head cover.
2. With recoil starter type:
Set the piston at top dead center of the compression
stroke (both' valves fully closed) by pulling the recti
starter slowly. The ''∆'' mark on the starter pulley wit
align with the projection on the fan cover when the
pastor is at top dead center of the compression
stroke.
Without retool starter type:
sit the piston at top dead center of the compression
stroke (both valves fully closed) by turning the cool-
ing fan setting plate. The projection of the cooling
fan will align with the projection on the fan cover
when the piston is at top dead center of the com-
pression stroke.
3. Insert a feeler gauge between the rocker arm and
valve to measure valve clearance.
Valve clearance IN 0.12 ±0.02 mm
EX 0.15 ±0.02 mm
