Transmission Temperature Switch
The transmission temperature switch (Fig. 9 -120, 1) is
threaded into the transmission housing (2) and is
connected to the operator’s instrument cluster via the
engine wiring harness, bulkhead connector and cab
wiring harness.

When the transmission fluid temperature rises above
250° F (121° C), the contacts close within the switch. The
operator’s instrument cluster indicator (Fig. 9 -121, 1) illu-
minates.

When the transmission temperature is below 250° F
(121° C), the contacts within the switch open and the op-
erator’s instrument cluster indicator turns off. (Refer to
Section 9.9.3, “Transmission Temperature Warning Indi-
cator Troubleshooting.”)
a. Transmission Temperature Switch Removal
1. Disconnect the negative (–) battery cable at the
negative battery terminal (Fig. 9 -122, 1).
