Engine Low Oil Pressure Switch
The engine low oil pressure switch (Fig. 9-115, 1) is
located on the engine, and is connected to the operator’s
instrument cluster via the engine wiring harness,
bulkhead connector and cab wiring harness.
Figure 9- 115 Engine Low Oil Pressure Switch
The engine oil pressure indicator is located in the
operator’s instrument cluster (Fig. 9 -116, 1) and
illuminates when engine oil pressure is too low to properly
lubricate the engine. The warning indicator illuminates
when oil pressure is below 8.7 psi (0,6 bar).
When the engine has attained normal oil pressure, the
switch opens and the indicator on the operator’s instrument
cluster turns OFF. (Refer to Section 9.9.6, “Engine Oil
Pressure Warning Indicator Troubleshooting.”)

a. Engine Oil Pressure Switch Removal
1. Disconnect the negative (–) battery cable at the
negative battery terminal (Fig. 9 -117, 1).
Figure 9- 117 Battery Cable Connections
2. Unplug the engine low oil pressure switch connector
(Fig. 9-115, 1) from the wiring harness connector.
3. The switch (Fig. 9-115, 2) is threaded into the
engine block. Remove the switch.
b. Engine Oil Pressure Switch Disassembly
DO NOT disassemble the switch. Replace a defective or
faulty switch.
c. Engine Oil Pressure Switch Inspection and
Replacement
Inspect the switch and the wiring harness connector
terminals for continuity. Replace a defective or faulty
switch with a new part.
d. Engine Oil Pressure Switch Installation and
Testing
1. Thread the switch (Fig. 9-115, 2) into the engine
block snugly.
2. Connect the wiring harness connector lead to the
engine low oil pressure switch connector
(Fig. 9-115, 1).
3. Connect the negative (–) battery cable to its battery
terminal (Fig. 9-117, 1).
4. Check for proper oil level.
5. Clear the area around the vehicle of personnel and
any obstructions to vehicle travel.
6. Start the engine, allow it to reach operating
temperature, and observe the operator’s instrument
cluster for warning indication.
