Electrical System
With the ignition ON and
the lighting control rotated
to 2nd position (Position
Parking Lights &
Headlights) and pulled
back for high beams ON,
high beam indicator and
high beam remain OFF.
Not
OK
Before troubleshooting any
electrical circuit, ALWAYS
begin by checking the
following:
1. Fuses.
2. All connections relating
to circuit are clean and
tight.
3. If low beam headlights
do not work, follow the
steps listed at, Section
9.7.25, “Roadlights
Position Lights & Low
Beam Lights Circuit and
Troubleshooting
(Option),” before
troubleshooting the high
beam circuit.
4. If one of the high beams
work, the circuit is fine,
the bad bulb needs to be
replaced.
If OK
Replace roadlight
harness.
Not
OK
Check for battery voltage at
pin 30 on headlight
switch relay.
Replace console/stabilizer
harness.
Not
OK
Disconnect two position
connector and check for
battery voltage at 21C on
roadlight harness.
Connect six position plug at
lighting control and flash high
beams.
Check for battery voltage
across relay coil
position 85 & 86.
Not
OK
If OK
Check for battery voltage at
pin 87 on headlight
switch relay.
Replace lighting control.
Not
OK
If OK
Disconnect six position plug
at lighting control and check
for voltage at roadlight
harness pin C, wire 31 (YEL).
Replace console/stabilizer
harness.
If OK
Replace headlight
switch relay
Replace console/
stabilizer harness.
Not OK If OK
