9.4 Diagnosis
Software update
A software update provides new system functions or installs bug fixes
released by HEIDENHAIN.
To update the software, proceed as follows:
U Log on in the System Manager user class.
U Select “Controls > Software Update > User Update“
in the Diagnosis menu. The CNC PILOT opens the
“Software Update” dialog box.
U In this dialog box, the CNC PILOT offers to make a
backup copy of the current software. HEIDENHAIN
recommends making this backup. In the “Path to
update files” input field, enter the path to the
connected PC or storage medium.
U The CNC PILOT backs up the data and then imports
the update files.
U Wait until the software update is complete. Then
switch the CNC PILOT off and on again.
U Check the CNC PILOT.
In a backup, the CNC PILOT writes the complete
software, including parameters, operating-resource data,
NC programs, etc., to the “CNC_Save” directory. Any old
backup files are deleted.
