SPANNING-TREE PORTFAST

Syntax

spanning-tree portfast |bpdu-filter|bpdu-guard

no spanning-tree portfast

Parameters

Enables fast transitions.

bpdu-filter

Specifies the portfast bpdu-filter for the interface.

bpdu-guard

Guards the interface against reception of BPDUs.

Description

Use the SPANNING-TREE PORTFAST command to enable fast
transitions on an interface. Use the no form of this command to reset the
command to its default value.

Example

The following commands assigns interface 5 to a portfast bpdu-filter:

switch#configure terminal

switch(config)#interface xe5

switch(config-if)#spanning-tree portfast bpdu-filter
