Shortcut Key 3: Protective Earth Resistance Test

Protective Earth Resistance is measured using the RED test lead attached to the DUT

Protective Earth terminal or enclosure. Select the test current by pressing

SOFT KEY

3

to toggle between

1AMP, 10AMP,

and

25AMP

. The front panel outlet power is

turned off for this test. The following conditions apply:

• L1 and L2 Open

Note:

Calibrate the test leads if performing a protective earth resistance test for

the first time with a unit or when using a new set of leads. Also calibrate

the leads if the unit does not read zero when the test lead is connected

between the RED and GREEN input jacks and a measurement is taken.

It is recommended that calibration be performed at 1 and 25 Amps.

Note:

Only use Fluke Biomedical-supplied test leads (PN 2213252 or

2391723), or leads rated for 32 Amps/1000 Volts with the Protective

Earth Resistance Test.

To calibrate the test leads:

• First select the test current that will be used for performing the Protective Earth

Resistance test by pressing

AMPERES (SOFT KEY 3)

.

• Connect the test lead(s) between the RED input jack and the GREEN input jack.
• Press

CAL LEADS

. The 601PRO will measure the lead resistance, and if less

than 0.150 Ohms, it will store the reading and subtract it from all earth resistance

readings taken at the calibrated current.

If the leads have too much resistance (higher than 0.150 Ohms) or are not properly

attached, the following

screen will appear:
