Computer Control

The 601PRO can be remotely operated using a host computer. The operator runs all tests

normally accessible from the 601PRO's top panel by sending the appropriate command

from the computer to the safety analyzer. The 601PRO then sends the test results or

measurements back to the host computer.

The 601PRO is linked to the host computer using a standard D9M-D9F serial cable. One

end of the serial cable is connected to the 601PRO's bi-directional RS232 port. The other

end is connected to the computer's serial port. Commands are then sent from the host

computer to activate top panel functions on the 601PRO.

Setup Requirements

Communications software, such as ProComm™, CrossTalk™, Kermit™, Carbon

Copy™ or Fluke Biomedical's OTIS™ must be loaded on the host computer.

The host computer and the 601PRO both must be set to the same communications

parameters (for example, 2400 Baud, No Parity, 8 Data Bits, and 1 Stop Bit).

• Set up communication parameters for the 601PRO by pressing

SETUP

then

key at the

MAIN MENU

. Select the appropriate Baud Rate.

The other communications parameters are fixed at 1 Stop Bit, 8 Data Bits, and

No Parity.

• Set up communication parameters for the host computer following instructions

provided with the installed communications software.

A 9-pin male to 9-pin female D-type connector (available from Fluke Biomedical

or an electronics supply outlet) must be attached to the computer and the 601PRO.
