Keyboard Options/Barcode Keyboard Wedge

An optional keyboard is available for the 601PRO that allow the user complete control of

the unit. The external keyboard can control manual tests, setup, utilities and input into text

fields for comments, technician name, device information and more.

In addition, wedge-type barcode scanners can be used with the 601PRO to efficiently scan

barcode labels and place the text as input to Control Number requests and other device

information.

The 601PRO’s keyboard interface is embedded for use with IBM PC AT-style keyboards.

The circular 5-pin DIN connector is located on the back of the 601PRO.

Note: Power off the 601PRO before connecting a keyboard or barcode keyboard

wedge.

Supported Keyboards

The supported standard U.S. keyboard and the recommended French, German, and Italian
keyboards are shown on pages B-4 and B-5. The keyboard characters that the 601PRO
displays and prints are 0..9, A..Z, and period, hyphen open parenthesis, close parenthesis,
exclamation, question, slash, semicolon, and colon. Lower case a..z are all converted to
upper case. The Escape, Enter, 0..9, slash, hyphen, and F1 through F8 keys are mapped to
the 601PRO’s front panel keypad. Ctrl, Alt, Alt Gr, Scroll Lock, and Num Lock have no
effect.
