Setting Up Mono Signal Switching

Setting Up Mono Signal Switching

UniConfig can manage mono audio signals. Mono signals are only supported by the NV5100,
NV5128, NV7256, NV7256-Plus and NV7512 routers. Mono signals enable you to combine left or
right channels with other channels, and then output new stereo signals. The router control system
determines how mono signals are recombined and routed to matrix outputs.

This section discusses mono signal switching configurations. For detailed steps on how to enter or
update switching configurations, see

Keeping Inputs and Outputs Straight

When a signal is applied to an input card, the signal is comprised of a left channel and a right chan-
nel. For example, when a signal comes into input card slot 1, the signal is comprised of a left chan-
nel (#1) and a right channel (#2). Likewise, when a signal comes into input card slot 2, the signal is
comprised of a left channel (#3) and a right channel (#4), and so on through all 16 inputs, where
input card 16 routes left channel #31 and right channel #32, creating up to 32 independent inputs
(left and right channels). Depending on the control system, each channel can be combined with
another channel and routed to a specific output. For example, left channel #7 from input card 4 can
be combined with right channel #16 from input card 8 and routed to output card 12. For more infor-
mation on card slots, see your router’s User’s Guide.

The following table lists the channel number for each receiving connector on an input card. Input
cards can manage up to 16 incoming stereo signals or 32 mono signals (i.e., 16 left and right chan-
nels pairs):
