Moving the ‘Control Cards’ Pane

Moving the ‘Control Cards’ Pane

The ‘Control Cards’ pane can be moved from its original position and relocated elsewhere on the
screen, where it can then be resized and positioned as desired. To move the window away from its
anchored position, left-click on the border (frame) at the top of the window and drag it to the
desired location on the screen. The label at the top of the relocated window changes to ‘Instant
Bar’.

Updating Control Cards on a Network

The name and IP address assigned to a control card can be updated at any time. Make sure when
updating an IP address that the new address is valid for your network.

How to Update Control Card Settings on a Network

1 Launch UniConfig. (See

Launching UniConfig

on page 9.)

2 Open the ‘Control Cards’ pane. (See

Control Cards Pane

on page 7.) The ‘Control Card’ pane

appears, as shown in Figure 7-1.

3 Select a control card. (See

Selecting a Control Card

on page 10.)

4 On the ‘Control Card’ pane, right-click on the control card you want to update and from the

pop-up menu select ‘Edit Name and IP Address’. The ‘Control Card Configuration’ dialog box
appears, as shown in Figure 7-2.

5 (Optional) On the ‘Configuration’ window, click

Read All

to view current router configuration

and Ethernet settings.

6 Update the ‘IP Address’ and ‘Name’ in the fields provided and click

OK

.

The updated control card information appears in the ‘Control Cards’ pane. To display all con-
trol cards currently on the network without looking at the ‘Control Cards’ pane, click

Search/

Refresh

.

Be careful! If you change the IP address to one that is already assigned to another control card,
you will switch to that control card, not update the current control card’s IP address. Or, if you
enter an IP address that is not yet assigned to a router, then UniConfig is pointing to no control
card.

7 To close the ‘Control Card Configuration’ dialog box, click

X

in the upper, right-hand corner.

8 Repeat steps 2 through 7 for each control card being updated.

Removing Control Cards from a Network

To remove a control card from the network so that UniConfig can no longer ‘see’ it, the control
card is disabled using the ‘Configuration’ window. However, disabling a control card does not
remove it from the network and can be accessed through the serial ports. (See
