11. Managing Machine Control Ports
Setting Up Machine Control Ports
one machine (e.g. machine containing master) to multiple other machines (e.g. machines that create
copies).
In addition, the machine control ports can be configured to only connect to a primary or secondary
device.
How to Configure Port Matching Control Ports
1 Launch UniConfig. (See

3 From the menu bar, select ‘Window > Machine Control Port Setup’. The ‘Machine Control Port
Setup’ window appears:

, or from the menu bar, select ‘Edit >Read All’. The current configuration of each
ports displays in the right-hand pane with default settings.
5 Enter a number in the ‘Take Delay’ field to set the frame ‘take’ delay. The “take delay” is the
number of video frames between the time a port is disconnected from one device and connected
to another. The delay period should be long enough to allow devices to recognize that they have
been reconnected to a new device, usually 20 to 30 frames. Be sure to verify that the delay is
sufficient.
6 In the right-hand pane, select the ports being updated.
Note
Each control card must be configured separately.
Note
Menu options for the ‘Machine Control Port Setup’ window do not activate
until a ‘take’ delay number is entered.
