15. Setting Gain and Inverting Polarity
The gain and polarity of an analog audio card can be set using UniConfig. This section describes
how to set the gain adjustment and invert polarity as needed.
DSP Sub-module (NV7512)
The DSP sub-module is a separate unit that can be installed on the crosspoint card on the NV7512
router. This feature is only available with the NV7512 router. The DSP sub-module enables manip-
ulation of audio input or output as follows:
• Gain Adjustment. The gain of incoming signals can be adjusted from -108
dB
up to +12
dB
in
increments of 0.1
dB
. See
Set Input Gain and Invert Polarity
• Phase Inversion. On occasion, incoming signals may be out of phase. Using the DSP sub-mod-
ule, signal polarity can be inverted. The polarity of each input channel may be independently
set to be non-inverted or inverted. See

• Crossfade. The crossfade functionality allows for switching between signals by gradually
decreasing the value of one signal while simultaneously increasing the value of a second signal.
A crossfade takes approximately 85 milliseconds from start to finish. See
Point Settings for the NV7512 Router
• Channel Summing. Left and right channels of a signal can be combined so that the left channel
and right channel are identical, called channel summing. Because the channels are now twice
the level of the original channels, the channels are divided by 2 to return each channel back to
the original level. See
How to Select Switch Point Settings for the NV7512 Router
The DSP sub-module effects only the signals being directly switched by the crosspoint card on
which it is installed. To implement DSP sub-module features, the module must be installed and
then configured using UniConfig. For more information, see the NV7512 User’s Guide.
Set Input Gain and Invert Polarity
Using the ‘Audio Adjustment’ window, input gain on audio inputs and outputs can be set. In addi-
tion, the polarity of signals can be inverted as needed. This function only applies to audio signals.
Note
Each control card must be configured separately.
