5-5 Read Quality Check Function
Installing the Code Reader under the Same Conditions as in the BL Series
Install the BL Series using the same method as with an actual operation.
Wire the trigger input (Timing input) as well.
For the installation method, refer to the User’s Manual for the BL Series.
Setting the Optimum “Quality Level ” in the DV-90 Test Mode

Move to the test mode.
Press the key four times.

Select the connected code reader.
Select the or key, and press the key.
The current specified quality level is displayed.

Perform reading in the BL Series using the
same method as with an actual operation.
As shown on the right, the measured reading qual-
ity is displayed on the right side of the symbol “<”.
The reference for the reading quality is determined
in this step.

Stop the reading operation on the BL Series after determining the optimum read-
ing quality.

Determine the reference value for the read-
ing quality.
Press the key. The reference value for the read-
ing quality is determined.
Note
The displayed reading quality counts scans performed while the laser is not on the bar
code. This will lower the reading quality.
In a case where the period of laser irradiation (One-shot synchronization time) is one
second (700 scans on the BL-700), and the period in which the laser is on the bar code
is 0.2 seconds (about 140 scans on the BL-700), the reading quality can not reach “20
%” even at its best. So for best results, always ensure that the laser is on the code dur-
ing the quality check.
