Read Quality Check Function

The read quality check function checks the reading stability of the connected code reader. When its stability is
lower than the standard, the judgment output is turned ON.
The degradation of the bar code printing quality can be checked using this function.

Read Quality Check Function

The reading stability of the bar code reader connected to the DV-90 can be checked.
Set the reference value of the reading quality level. “QUALITY” is turned ON when the result is
lower than the reference value. This allows you to determine the reading stability.

Follow the steps below to use this function.

1 Change the settings of the BL Series.
2 Set the “Read Quality Check Function” of the DV-90.
3 Install the code reader under the same conditions as in the BL Series.
4 Set the optimum “Quality Level ” in the DV-90 test mode.
5 Confirm the optimum setting by executing an actual DV-90 read operation.

Changing the Settings of the BL Series

Change the settings by using the BL SetUp Software. For the setting method, refer to the User’s
Manual for the BL Series.

Note

• This function is supported with BL-1300/700/600/500/180 Series readers.
• This function can be used only in normal verification and active verification.

The “reading stability” is calculated using the formula [number of decodes] divided by
[number of scans].

Note

• By setting the trigger to One-shot, the unit reads the bar code only during the specified

measurement time.

• The One-shot time must be set according to the application.
• By setting the BL Series as specified, the read data is sent from the BL Series to the DV-90

after the trigger input is turned OFF. The result of verification with the master data in the DV-
90 is also output after the trigger input is turned OFF.

• Read modes other than “Single” are not supported other than the “Single-label reading

mode”.
