In some cases, this effect may be desirable in order to reduce the dynamics of the knife drum
on the basis of longer deceleration/acceleration ramps for exiting/entering synchronous mode.
In most cases, movement in opposition to the material flow is not permissible. In order to avoid
reversing the knife drum it makes sense to split the asynchronous section into three subsections
with a pause in the middle (section 2):
