You must have administrative privilege to enter this command.
Description
Changes the TCP port number for Telnet requests.
Syntax
Sample Output
The following example changes the TCP port for Telnet requests to
port 9998:
Avaya(configure)#
ip telnet port 9998
TCP Telnet listening port was changed
successfully to 9998
Systems
Avaya P550R, P580, P880, and P882 Multiservice Switches.
To change the
port number:
ip telnet port

Name
Definition
The TCP port number that you want to use for Telnet
requests. The default setting is port 23.
Valid port numbers are 23 or a port number from
9000 through 65355.
Once you change the TCP port number for Telnet,
only users who know the new port number can start
Telnet sessions to the switch.
